Save The Date 14th October 2025

The 14th of October 2025 marks another pivotal moment in Microsoft’s product lifecycle, as a large spectrum of very popular and widely deployed software reaches end-of-support. This includes Windows 10 and Windows 11 22H2.  On the productivity front, the extended support for Office 2016 and 2019, along with Visio 2016/2019, Project 2016/2019, and server-side tools like Exchange Server 2016/2019, Skype for Business Server 2015/2019, Visual Studio 2015, and TFS (Azure DevOps Server) concludes on the same date. After this deadline, all of these products will no longer receive security fixes, bug patches, or technical support — leaving organisations exposed until they migrate to supported versions like Windows 11, Microsoft 365, Office LTSC, Azure-based services, or sign up for Extended Security Updates (ESUs).  Note that ESU will not always be an option and it only provides the security update and support is limited in installing the security update.

Update: 15-7-2025 Exchange 2016/2019 Extended Security Update program announced

Microsoft recommends that customers upgrade to newer products and services well in advance of this date to not only enhance security and performance but also ensure compatibility with other modern tools and services, helping them stay productive and protected. After the October 2025 End of Support date, security updates and assistance from Microsoft ends for these major products leaving remaining customers vulnerable

Products that will exit out of extended support on the 14th October 2025 include:

    • Windows 10
    • Exchange Server 2016
    • Exchange Server 2019

Exchange Subscription Edition

Exchange 2016 & 2019 Both Exit Out of Extended Support on the same date.  After this date, Subscription Edition (SE) will be the only supported version of Exchange.

Exchange Server 2016 End of Support

Exchange Server 2019 End of Support

Exchange Server 2019 follows the Fixed Lifecycle Policy.  These fixed periods are also different than previous versions of Exchange.  For example, Exchange 2010 had 5 years of mainstream and 5 years of extended support.  Exchange 2019 is different as there is at least 5 years of mainstream support, but the extended support period will vary.  As a result both Exchange Server 2016 and 2019 exit out of extended support on the same day - 14th October 2025.  That date will come quickly.

The exact details & dates are documented in the support lifecycle page.
