End of Exchange 2016 Mainstream Support

October the 13th 2020 is not only the end of support for Office 2010 and Exchange 2010, it also signals that Exchange 2016 will transition into extended support.

Exchange 2016 will continued to be supported as per the lifecycle support policy.

The below excerpt from the Microsoft lifecycle page illustrates when Exchange 2016 will exit extended support in 2025.

Exchange 2016 CAS Namespace Cutover Authentication Failure

You have prepped for months, and tonight is the night!  It is the night of CAS namespace cutover to move the HTTPS namespaces from Exchange 2010 so that the point to Exchange 2013 or 2016.  DNS TTL was decremented.  Servers are all fully updated as are the Outlook clients and we are good to go.

Exchange 2016 CU18 Released

Exchange 2016 CU18 has been released to the Microsoft download centre!  Exchange 2016 has a different servicing strategy than Exchange 2007/2010 and utilises Cumulative Updates (CUs) rather than the Rollup Updates (RU/UR) which were used previously.    CUs are a complete installation of Exchange 2016 and can be used to install a fresh server or to update a previously installed one. September 2020 Security Updates For Exchange 2016 and 2019

Today is patch Tuesday for September 2020, and amongst the updates released today are security fixes for Exchange 2016 and Exchange 2019.

Local Endpoint Used For Cross-Premises Free Busy Lookup

When troubleshooting cross-premises calendar availability issues, it can be useful to know the name of the local on-premises endpoint which is used.  By knowing the path and URL, you can then search the IIS logs for the path.

This will accelerate finding the correct entry(ies) and assist with troubleshooting.
