Automating Enable-Remote Mailbox

While operating in an Exchange hybrid model, users expect to see a consistent GAL no matter if they or other people to be contacted are on-premises or in Exchange Online.  In order for the Exchange on-premises servers to be able to build up a complete GAL there needs to be at least some mailbox information added to the AD user object.  If Exchange Online mailboxes are added by simply assigning an … Read the rest “Automating Enable-Remote Mailbox”

Transport Rule To Force On-Premises Terminology In a Not So Subtle Way

There are many memes doing the rounds inside Microsoft which are sent out when someone uses the term on-premise rather than on-premises.  Note the extra"S" in the latter.  This is not new, and the last rant on this subject was a year ago Friday Morning Rant – Premise and Tenents.

For another bit of Friday morning fun, how about we provide some rather unsubtle feedback via an Exchange transpor… Read the rest “Transport Rule To Force On-Premises Terminology In a Not So Subtle Way”

Unable to Reply to Old Emails Due to legacyExchangeDN

This is one of those ye olde issues that keep coming back up in Exchange.  Have you every removed a mailbox, re-created it with the exact same SMTP address and then some people complain that they cannot send to the mailbox?

This can happen in a few circumstances.  For example if the Exchange administrator has an “oops”  and accidently deletes the account.  If they do not use the AD DS recycle bin f… Read the rest “Unable to Reply to Old Emails Due to legacyExchangeDN”

Quick Tip – Sending Multiple Test Emails Using PowerShell (AKA Mailstorm)

Mailstorm.exe was a utility to send multiple test emails to validate and test Exchange in the 5.5 timeframe, and was used on some of the Microsoft Official Curriculum (MOC) courses.

The utility is no longer used since relied upon a local Outlook install, and my fuzzy brain recalls issues with moving to "current" versions of Outlook such as Office XP.

This is no great loss as it is easy to send test … Read the rest “Quick Tip – Sending Multiple Test Emails Using PowerShell (AKA Mailstorm)”
