Exchange 2010 SP2 RU5v2 Released

The Exchange 2010 SP2 RU5 update was removed from the download centre last month.  The V2 of this update is now available and resolves issues with the Get-DatabaseAvailabilityGroup cmdlets.  With the v1 of the update installed this error may have been observed:

Update 17-11-2012:  2010 SP2 RU5 is currently not available due to an issue with the update.

Update 11-12-2012 2010 SP2 RU5v2 is now available.  Details are here.

Exchange sustained engineering has released Exchange 2010 SP2 RU5 to the Microsoft Download Center.

Exchange 2013 Hits RTM

11-10-2012 is an interesting number as this is the date when the Exchange product group signed off on the build to release Exchange 2013 to Manufacturing.   If you are in the UK, yes I know the month and year are the “wrong” way around Smile

Important Upcoming Certificate Changes

Please be aware that there is a pending change for the minimum key length for certificates with RSA keys.  The private keys used in these certificates can be derived and could allow an attacker to duplicate the certificates and use them fraudulently to spoof content, perform phishing attacks, or perform man-in-the-middle attacks.

Solving Additional Issues With Exchange OAB Download

Frank Plawetzki posted a great article on issues that can affect how clients retrieve their Offline Address Book (OAB). This has also been the source of some recent work for myself, though with slightly different root causes. The issues that I have encountered were due to:

  • Invalid SSL Certificate
  • OAB web.config file
  • Incorrect process followed for HTTP redirect
