Exchange 2013 RTM CU3 Released

Exchange 2013 CU3 Download Available

Exchange 2013 RTM CU3 has now been released to the download centre.

CU3 includes fixes for customer reported issues, minor product enhancements and previously released security bulletins. A complete list of customer reported issues resolved in Exchange Server 2013 CU3 can be found in Knowledge Base Article KB2892464.

Note that the filename now reflects the actual CU!

Quick Tip – Sending Multiple Test Emails Using PowerShell (AKA Mailstorm)

Mailstorm.exe was a utility to send multiple test emails to validate and test Exchange in the 5.5 timeframe, and was used on some of the Microsoft Official Curriculum (MOC) courses.

The utility is no longer used since relied upon a local Outlook install, and my fuzzy brain recalls issues with moving to "current" versions of Outlook such as Office XP.

Offline Defrag And DAG Databases, Oh My!

Even though some of the very old KBs, which  now refer to unsupported products, state that taking databases offline to run periodic offline defragmentation with ESEUTIL is not recommended some folks in the field still want to do this.

Exchange 2013 RTM CU2 Updated Build Available

Exchange 2013 RTM CU2 was noted to have an issue with the permissions of migrated public folders.  The Exchange team has released an updated version of CU2 to address this.  This replaces the original download for CU2.
