Still Running DirSync and AAD Sync–Really Time To Update

This post is for those customers who continue to run outdated and legacy versions of the synchronisation tools to connect on-premises Active Directory to Azure Active Directory.  It was noted back in April this year that legacy versions of the synchronisation tools should be updated to a supported version of Azure AD Connect.  Preferably the latest available version.

If for any reason this was not d… Read the rest “Still Running DirSync and AAD Sync–Really Time To Update”

Reminder–End of Office 365 Outlook Anywhere Support October 31st 2017

The end of Outlook Anywhere support in Office 365 is almost upon us.  In a weeks time support for Outlook Anywhere (OA) will be removed in Office 365.  Note that this does not impact on-premises deployments. This change is in Office 365.  The replacement client connectivity protocol is MAPI/HTTP.  MAPI/HTTP is not a new protocol, it was introduced with Exchange 2013 SP1 and Outlook 2013 SP1.

End of Outlook 2007 Support

Earlier this year we said goodbye to our friend, Exchange 2007.  Now that it is October the 10th, Outlook 2007 is also exiting out of extended support.

Customers who use Office 365 will have noted that there is a change to the supported client connectivity methods.  Outlook Anywhere is being replaced with MAPI/HTTP.  Outlook 2007 does not support MAPI/HTTP, and as such will be unable to connect.  T… Read the rest “End of Outlook 2007 Support”

End of Exchange 2007 Support

Today’s the day to say goodbye to our old friend, Exchange 2007.  At this point you should have completed the project to move all mailboxes and resources from Exchange 2007 to a supported version of Exchange, and uninstall the Exchange 2007 servers.

Thanks to Exchange 2007 I went to MCM, and discovered just how badly Greg Taylor and accomplices can break an Exchange environment and turn it into a qu… Read the rest “End of Exchange 2007 Support”

Save The Date – End of Office 2007 Extended Support

Please be aware and plan for the upcoming end of extended support Office 2007.   For those who were working in IT back in 2006 when Office 2007 was released, do you remember the catchy title that was used? L.O.V.E.  - Launch of Office Vista and Exchange.  Office 2007 brought us Outlook 2007 which was a welcome change from the 2003 version of the product.  Some features are still with us, others no… Read the rest “Save The Date – End of Office 2007 Extended Support”

Save The Date – End of Exchange 2007 Extended Support

End of Exchange 2007 Extended SupportExchange 2007 is now twelve months out from the end of its support lifecycle.  If you still have Exchange 2007 deployed, and have not completed the migration to a newer version of Exchange then it is time to accelerate that migration project.

I feel a little bittersweet about this.  Yes, the new Exchange versions offer far more functionality, but remember back to when Exchange 2007 was released and… Read the rest “Save The Date – End of Exchange 2007 Extended Support”

Office 2013–SP1 Now Required

In the last several customer engagements, there has been a trend to not install updates for Office 2013.  Some admins thought that there was no service pack available, and others thought that the RTM build of Office 2013 was still in support.  Unfortunately neither are correct viewpoints.

This means that you now need to have Office 2013 SP1 deployed on all relevant machines, as the … Read the rest “Office 2013–SP1 Now Required”

At this time Exchange 2013 RTM, CU1, CU2 and CU3 are no longer supported.  Customers should be on a recent Exchange 2013 build.  Exchange 2013 CU4 is also known as SP1.

Whilst the servicing strategy for Exchange 2013 changed compared to E… Read the rest “End Of Exchange 2013 RTM Support”
